I am a researcher in data science. In my research, I aim to contribute to societal transitions (e.g. climate change mitigation, healthy living environment, preventive health) according to social values (inclusiveness, reduction of inequalities, respect for biodiversity). My contribution focuses on building a reliable source of data and information concerning transitions for citizens and citizen collectives, supporting decision making and communication with relevant societal partners (e.g. government, businesses often referred to as stakeholders).

Professional affiliations

I am a full professor of ‘applied data analytics’ leading the Data Science for Social Good group at Leiden University. I am also a principal scientist  Data Science at TNO where I co-initiated the ‘Better Together’ early research programme.
